A Heart Like His - Week 6

Aug 15, 2007

Sorry for the lack of postings of late . . . life got the better of me of a bit but I wanted to post again with intent to become more "regular" through the rest of the remainder of this study.

So here we are, in the exact middle of our workbook!

Finally, David is atop his promised throne!  He is King over Judah and for the past few weeks we've watched this man "after God's own Heart" bloom in virtues of humility, mercy, grace, and tenderness.  We've witnessed him weep in great distress over deaths of his closest companions and dance in a very "undignified" manner before the Lord for his soverignty.  We've seen his closest friends turn against him, and watched how he spared the lives of his most bitter enemies.

Along the way, our video session with Beth Moore has addressed some incredibly relevant themes! We learned about the importance of finding intimacy with God in the middle of deep grief, and what authentic praise means to our relationship with Christ.  I don't know about you, but every week as I get to know more about David's character (with the full story in the back of my mind) I have started to really appreciate God's Grace and mercy in the way he chose and molded David into the King he was to be.

This week, we're entering a turning point in David's life.  You can easily guess what situation that includes during his Kingship.  I won't spoil it for you if you have no clue and don't want to read ahead -- but for the visitors here, we're now heading into 2 Samuel 11!

The workbook study promises to address some uncomfortable subjects, but I encourage you to continue to let God refine you through the truth of His Word- even when the going gets icky.

Be encouraged!

Lastly, we can't wait to say hello again to some of our girls who've been away! And have a safe trip to those of you heading out for a couple of weeks.  We'll see you all very soon!
